Fosrenol Information

Fosrenol (Lanthanum Carbonate) is used to reduce phosphate levels in people with end-stage renal failure. The kidneys are responsible for maintaining a relatively constant level of phosphorus in the body. People with end-stage kidney disease are likely to have hyperphosphatemia – a condition where there is phosphate buildup in the body. Phosphate binders like Lanthanum Carbonate bind to phosphate in food, preventing the body from absorbing them. Your body then passes out the phosphate in your stool.
