Fucithalmic Viscous Eye Drops (Fusidic Acid) is a medication used for the treatment of conjunctivitis (eye infection) caused by bacteria that is sensitive to fusidic acid. Fucithalmic Viscous Eye Drops belong to a class of medications called antibiotics, and work by preventing the bacteria from reproducing, causing the number of live bacteria to decrease until there are no more. Many cases of infective conjunctivitis clear within a week or so without treatment, but for more severe infections, or for infections that do not clear on their own, an antibiotic eye drop such as Fucithalmic Viscous Eye Drops is helpful. If your symptoms have not improved after a week, or if they begin to worsen, contact your doctor to discuss your treatment plan.

This medication is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Regardless, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. This medication is not expected to pass into breast milk, and is not expected to harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. If you are using any other eye drops or eye ointments, leave at least 5 minutes between applying each medication. This is to prevent more liquid going into your eye than it can handle. If you do not wait, that drops will overflow from your eye and not have the intended effect. Medication used in the eyes does not typically interact with any medications you inject or take orally. Regardless, tell your doctor about any medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements you are currently taking or have recently taken in order to reduce the risk of any possible interactions. Eye infections may cause your eyes to become more sensitive to sunlight than usual. Wear sunglasses if this issue arises. During application, do not touch the tip of the dropper to your eye. If the tip of the dropper touches your eye when putting the drops in, squeeze out two or three drops from the bottle on to a tissue and rinse the tip with salt water to prevent reinfection. After applying this medication, you may experience blurred vision. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until your vision has returned to normal. This medication is not approved for use in children younger than 2 years old.
