Symbicort Inhalation Aerosol (Budesonide/Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate MDI) is an inhaler medication used to prevent bronchospasm in people with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Symbicort contains two medications, Budesonide and Formoterol fumarate dihydrate. Budesonide works as an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid that blocks many inflammatory enzymes and cells, leading to more relaxed airways. Formoterol works by blocking the adrenergic receptors in the lungs and airways, which results in bronchodilation.
