Activella (Estradiol/Norethindrone Acetate) Product Information

Activella is a prescription medication for treating menopause symptoms. It controls hot flashes, vaginal changes and prevent osteoporosis. If your doctor has prescribed this medication and you are looking to buy Activella online, give us a call or chat with us live on our PricePro Pharmacy website. We have also created a page called “How to Order” that contains all the information you require to place your first order online. This helpful guide will show you how to submit your prescription and how the complete ordering process takes place.

What is Activella used for?

Activella is a medicine for treating menopause symptoms like hot flashes, vaginal changes, and bone loss. It is a combination treatment that contains estradiol and norethindrone. Estradiol is a type of estrogen while norethindrone is a progestin. Activella’s therapeutic effect is based on these two hormones. During a woman’s reproductive age, her ovaries produce a kind of estrogen known as estradiol. After reaching menopause, however, her ovaries stop producing estradiol and androstenedione becomes the new source of estrogen.

Androstenedione is produced by the adrenal glands and then converted to a type of estrogen called estrone. This is the cause of those terrible menopause symptoms that women experience. To correct this, Activella consists of progestin (norethindrone) and estrogen (estradiol). It replaces the estrogen that the ovaries don’t produce after a woman reaches menopause. Therefore, a woman who is experiencing hot flashes, osteoporosis or unbearable vaginal changes can have relief. Norethindrone ensures that women who still have a uterus don’t develop uterine cancer when taking Activella. Those who have had hysterectomy done don’t have a cancer risk and don’t require progestin.

Activella Dosage

The dose you are going to take will mostly depend on what your menopausal symptoms. If you are looking to alleviate your vaginal discomfort due to dryness and other changes, then 1mg/0.5mg may be prescribed. This may be combined with a topical vaginal product to ensure quick healing. If taking it to prevent bone loss, you might be given a similar dose of Activella and a different medicine.

When taking Activella, just make sure that you follow your doctor’s instructions. Unless your doctor changes your dose, continue to take it the same way always. If you get so sick that you are put on bed rest or if you must do a major surgery, stop taking your medicine. Additionally, let your surgeon or doctor know that you take Activella. Another key thing to remember is that you need to have yourself checked every three to six months.

This is to help your doctor decide whether Activella is doing you any good. Having a mammogram every year is advisable too when taking your tablets. It will help your physician detect any lumps in the breasts. Report any abnormal vaginal bleeding the moment you notice it. If you miss a dose, take it the soonest you can recall unless you are almost taking the next one.
