Rapaflo and the generic Silodosin is sold in the strength of 4 mg and 8 mg capsules.

Usage

Rapaflo (Silodosin) is a medication that is prescribed to relieve symptoms of enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH). Silodosin belongs to a class of medications known as alpha-adrenergic blocker. It helps relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck making it easier to urinate. Rapaflo is used to help men with enlarged prostates to improve urination. It should not indicate to treat high blood pressure.

Side Effects

Signs of Rapaflo allergy: difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

The possible side effects of Rapaflo include abnormal ejaculation, diarrhea, headaches, stuffy nose, and sinus pain. If your side effects are persistent or become bothersome, contact your doctor. Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience severe side effects such as:
• Feeling like you’re about to pass out or faint
• Having an erection that has lasted more than 4 hours

Precautions and Interactions

You should not take Rapaflo if you are allergic to Silodosin or to any of the ingredients in this medication or:
• If you are taking certain antifungal or HIV drugs;
• If you have severe kidney or liver disease

Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history including:
• Certain eye problems;
• Kidney or liver disease;
• Low blood pressure

Rapaflo may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, which could lead to dizziness or fainting. Do not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires you to be alert. Alcohol or marijuana can make you feel dizzy. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC and herbal medications. Also tell them about any vitamins and supplements you take. There may be an interaction between Rapaflo and other medications. Before having cataract surgery, tell your doctor if you are currently taking Rapaflo or have ever taken it in the past. This medication should not used by women or children. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
