Azopt FAQs

How do I use Azopt?

The recommended dose is one drop of Azopt in the affected eye(s) three times daily. Azopt may be used concomitantly with other topical ophthalmic drug products to lower intraocular pressure. If more than one topical ophthalmic drug is used, the drugs should be administered at least ten (10) minutes apart.

Can I take this if I am pregnant?

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Azopt should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

Can I take this while breastfeeding?

It is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk and because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from Azopt a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

What should I do if I am having ocular surgery?

Immediately seek their physician's advice concerning the continued use of the present multidose container.

What should I do if I use more than one eye drop?

If more than one topical ophthalmic drug is being used, the drugs should be administered at least ten minutes apart.

What should I do if I have a hypersensitivity reaction?

If serious or unusual ocular or systemic reactions or signs of hypersensitivity occur, they should discontinue the use of the product and consult their physician.
