Moduretic (Amiloride/Hydrochlorothiazide) is a combined prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, oedema, ankles, feet, and legs swelling, and ascites due to liver diseases. The active substances in Moduretic are Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide. Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide belong to the class of medication called thiazide diuretics. It works by making the kidney eliminate excess fluid (urine) and salt from the body while minimizing potassium loss. As a result, it reduces high blood pressure and some forms of swelling while at the same time helping to maintain normal levels of potassium in your blood.
