CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE) is a gastric protective used to treat and prevent ulcers. CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE) may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Follow the directions for using CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE) provided by your doctor. TAKE CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE) on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating. DO NOT TAKE ANTACIDS for at least 30 minutes before or after taking CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE). STORE CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE) at room temperature, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE),take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose of CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE), skip the missed dose of CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE) and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses of CARAFATE (SUCRALFATE) at once.
CARAFATE side effects, that may go away during treatment, is constipation. If CARAFATE side effects continue or is bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other CARAFATE side effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
