What Is Latuda Used For?

Latuda is a psychiatric medicine that treats mood disorders in schizophrenia and depression associated with bipolar disorder. It contains lurasidone which helps restore the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain to help the patient think more clearly, lessen nervousness, and help take part in daily living.

Schizophrenia is a mental illness with symptoms of delusions, hallucinations, decreased expression of emotions, lack of motivation in doing things, strange behaviors, and strange behaviors. Bipolar I disorder is also called bipolar disorder. It is a manic episode that lasts for seven days, and there is also a presence of depressive episodes that usually last for at least 14 days.

Latuda works in this condition by increasing dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain, making it more stable to help control mood, behavior, and thoughts. It can also decrease hallucinations and improve sleep, appetite, and energy level. To treat depression related to bipolar illness, this medication can be administered alone or in combination with lithium or valproate.
