Addyi is an oral medication used to treat decreased sexual desire in pre-menopausal women. This medication is used when low sexual desire is not caused by: a medical condition, a mental disorder, relationship problems, or because of a side-effect from other medications.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Addyi include dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, nausea, dry mouth, sleep problems. The serious side effects may include:

• Severe drowsiness;
• Light-headedness (feeling like you might pass out);
• Signs of severe allergic reaction;
o Hives
o Difficulty breathing
o Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat

You should not take Addyi if you are allergic to Flibanserin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications. Do not take this medication if you have already gone through menopause, or if you are a male. Avoid drinking alcohol on this medication because it may cause you to have dangerously low blood pressure. This medication is only approved for adults, age 18 and older. Do not take this medication while pregnant or nursing. There may be an interaction between Addyi and other medications. The most notable include nefazodone, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, heart or blood pressure medications, and HIV or AIDS medications. Talk to your doctor about the risks.
