Midamor (Amiloride) is a prescription medicine used to treat or prevent hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood) and prevent your body from absorbing too much salt and water in people with high blood pressure or congestive heart failure. The active ingredient in Midamor is Amiloride. Amiloride belongs to the class of medication called potassium-sparing diuretics. Amiloride works by causing your body to get rid of extra salt and water while also preventing the kidney from getting rid of too much potassium. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, kidney problems, and heart attacks.

The common side effects of Midamor are nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, fatigue, dizziness, muscle cramps, and impotence.

You should take this medication by mouth with food, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor. If you take this drug too close to bedtime, you may need to wake up to urinate. Sometimes, drinking too much water can be as unsafe as not drinking enough.

Before you start using Midamor, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
