Midamor Information

Midamor Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently offers the brand Midamor from Canada, manufactured by AA Pharma. The generic Amiloride comes from the United Kingdom by a different manufacturer. Our customers may also purchase other Blood Pressure Medications such as Aldactazide and Tribenzor.

Dosage

Midamor and its generic Amiloride are available in the strength of 5 mg tablets.

Usage

Midamor (Amiloride) is a prescription medicine used to treat or prevent hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood) and prevent your body from absorbing too much salt and water in people with high blood pressure or congestive heart failure. The active ingredient in Midamor is Amiloride. Amiloride belongs to the class of medication called potassium-sparing diuretics. Amiloride works by causing your body to get rid of extra salt and water while also preventing the kidney from getting rid of too much potassium. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, kidney problems, and heart attacks.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Midamor are nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, fatigue, dizziness, muscle cramps, and impotence.

Stop using Midamor and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Heavy sweating, or hot and dry skin;
• Increased thirst, decreased urination;
• Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
• Recurrent cough;
• Severe muscle and abdominal pain;
• Signs and symptoms of too much potassium such as confusion, irregular heartbeat, numbness or tingling in hands, feet, or lips, unusual tiredness or weakness, and weakness or heaviness of legs;
• Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction (such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or throat);
• Tremors, confusion, loss of consciousness

Warnings and Interactions

Before you commence this medication, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or have any other allergies. You should take this medication by mouth with food, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor. If you take this drug too close to bedtime, you may need to wake up to urinate. Therefore, taking this medication at least 4 hours before sleep is best. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about how and when to take this medication. It would be best if you avoid a diet high in salt. Too much salt will cause your body to retain water, making this medication less effective. This drug may increase the potassium levels in your blood. Limit foods high in potassium, such as bananas and orange juice. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any potassium products (such as potassium supplements or salt substitutes). It would be best to limit your alcoholic beverages while taking Amiloride tablets. Drinking alcohol with this medicine can worsen your side effects. Amiloride makes your body lose water by urination. Avoid becoming dehydrated during exercise, hot weather, or not drinking enough water. Follow your doctor's instructions about the type and amount of water you should drink. Sometimes, drinking too much water can be as unsafe as not drinking enough.

Before you start using Midamor, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Breathing problems;
• Heart disease;
• Kidney disease or are unable to urinate;
• Liver diseases such as liver cirrhosis;
• On a low-salt diet

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, contact your doctor immediately. It is not known if Amiloride passes into breast milk. If you are a breastfeeding mother taking this medication, it may affect your baby. Do not breastfeed while you are taking this medication. There may be a drug interaction between Midamor and other drugs, such as Tacrolimus, lithium, digoxin, cyclosporine, and angiotensin-converting enzymes (ACE) inhibitors, such as enalapril, ramipril, and quinine.
