Indications

Corlanor is a medication used to treat chronic heart failure in adults with symptoms, to reduce their risk of hospitalization for worsening heart failure.

Corlanor works selectively and specifically inhibits the cardiac pacemaker current, slowing the heart rate. Corlanor is also used to treat stable symptomatic heart failure caused by dilated cardiomyopathy among pediatric patients who are 6 months of age and above.

Corlanor is classified as a hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel blocker. This type of medication mainly works by regulating heart rate and prolonging diastolic time.

Use and Dosage

Take Corlanor medication exactly as advised by the doctor. This is typically taken two times a day (preferably at equal intervals) by mouth with food. Swallow the tablet and drink fluids right after. You may cut the scored tablets in equal halves.

The doctor may initiate this treatment at a low dose and carefully increase the dose to minimize the risk of side effects.

Starting dose is 5 mg twice daily. After 2 weeks of treatment, adjust the dose based on heart rate. The maximum dose is 7.5 mg twice daily. In patients with conduction defects or in whom bradycardia could lead to hemodynamic compromise, initiate dosing at 2.5 mg twice daily.
