WHAT IS RAPAFLO?

Rapaflo (Silodosin) is a prescription medication that helps treat signs and symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). It does not shrink the enlarged prostate gland. It only relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder to relieve symptoms such as difficulty in urination, a weak stream, and an increased need to urinate. It belongs to a class of drugs called antiadrenergic agents or BPH, alpha-blockers.

Doctors do not commonly prescribe Rapaflo for kidney stones, but it may help improve the chances of stone passage without surgery.

Regarding the prescribed dose for your condition, follow your healthcare provider’s advice. The medical information and guidelines in using this medication can be found in the medication guide and prescription labels. If you don’t understand the directions, seek assistance from a doctor or pharmacist.

Rapaflo comes in two dosage forms and strengths: Rapaflo 4 mg capsule and Rapaflo 8 mg capsule.

For the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), administer the 8 mg capsule orally, once daily.

If you have trouble swallowing the capsule, dissolve the powder inside the capsule on a tablespoonful of applesauce. The apple sauce must not be hot and must be swallowed within 5 minutes. Follow with 8 ounces of cool water afterward.

If you missed a dose, take the medication capsule as soon as you remember. However, if your next planned dose for your condition is approaching, skip the missed dose and take the following one. To make up for a missed dose, do not take a double dose of this medication.

In the event of an overdose, or if you are suffering overdose symptoms like fainting or difficulties breathing, call 911 and get medical help right away.

Keep this medication in a clean, dry area at room temperature.
