Product Details

Suprax (Cefixime) is a type of antibiotic called a cephalosporin. It is used to treat a number of bacterial infections, including strep throat, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, and Lyme disease. Suprax works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It binds to the penicillin binding proteins, which inhibits the final step in cell wall synthesis, blocking biosynthesis and resulting in the death of the bacterial cell.

Common side effects of Suprax include indigestion or stomach pain, nausea or vomiting, or vaginal itching or discharge. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice more serious side effects such as sever stomach pain or diarrhea, jaundice, dark coloured urine, seizures, confusion or weakness, signs of low blood cell counts, signs of kidney problems, or signs of a sever skin reaction. If you notice more serious side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.

You should not use Suprax if you are allergic to Suprax or similar antibiotics. Do not use any antibiotic when it is not needed because it can cause it to not work for future infections. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin. It is unknown if this medication will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. It is unknown if this medication passes into breastmilk. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding.

Questions and Answers
