Sanctura (Trospium) is used to treat overactive bladder and symptoms of urinary incontinence, frequency, and urgency. Sanctura belongs to a class of medications called antimuscarinics, and works by blocking the effect of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, on muscarinic receptors organs that are responsive, which includes the bladder. It acts to block some of the actions of parasympathetic nervous system, which in turn relaxes the smooth muscle in the bladder, decreasing muscle spasms and allowing for better control over urination.

Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the brand Sanctura also called Trosec from Canada by Sunovion. We also carry the brand Sanctura (Regurin) and Sanctura XR (Regurin XL) from the United Kingdom by a different manufacturer. The generic Trospium is available from Canada and the Trospium XR capsules come from India also called Trofame XR by Sun Pharma. Sanctura and generic Trospium comes in the strength of 20 mg capsules and Santura XR and Trospium XR is available in the dosage of 60 mg XR capsules.
Common side effects of Sanctura may include dry mouth or throat, headache, mild constipation, upset stomach, gas, dizziness, drowsiness, or dry eyes. Stop using Sanctura and call your doctor immediately if you notice more serious side effects such as:
• Confusion, hallucinations;
• Severe constipation;
• Severe stomach pain or bloating;
• Urinating less than usual or not at all
If you notice any serious side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
You should not use Sanctura if you are allergic to Trospium, or fi you have untreated or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, a blockage in your digestive system, or if you are unable to urinate. To make sure Sanctura is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had glaucoma, liver disease, kidney disease, a stomach or intestinal disorder such as ulcerative colitis, a muscle disorder such as myasthenia gravis, or an enlarged prostate. It is unknown whether or not Sanctura will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication. It is unknown whether Sanctura passes into breast milk, or if it will harm a breast-feeding baby. Do not use Sanctura without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Do not use this medication in children under 12 without your doctors’ advice.
Sanctura may cause blurred vision, and may impair your thinking or reactions. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medication will affect you. Avoid drinking alcohol within 2 hours before or after you take Sanctura, as it may increase certain side effects. Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather. Sanctura can decrease sweating, which makes it easier for you to have heat stroke. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medication. Sanctura may interact with several medications, especially atropine, belladonna, benztropine, dimenhydrinate, metformin, morphine, procainamide, tenofovir, and vancomycin. Sanctura may also interact with bronchodilators, bladder or urinary medications, irritable bowel syndrome medications, and ulcer medications. Tell your doctor about any medications you are currently taking or have recently taken in order to reduce the risk of any possible interactions.
