Mobic (Meloxicam) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that is used to treat pain and inflammation due to arthritis. This medication may also be used to treat gout attacks. Meloxicam works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. This will reduce pain, swelling and stiffness of the joints.

We currently have the brand Mobicox from Canada manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim. The generic comes from Canada and UK. It may come from other countries around the world. This medication is available in the strength of 7.5mg, 15mg tablets.

Common side effects include:

• Diarrhea;
• Dizziness;
• Nausea;
• Upset stomach

Serious side effects include:

• Black, bloody, or tarry stools;
• Chest pain;
• Coughing up blood;
• Mood or mental changes;
• Nausea;
• Severe skin reaction;
• Skin rash;
• Unexplained weight gain

You should not take this medication if you are allergic to Meloxicam, or to asprin or other NSAIDs. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. This medication can make you dizzy. You should not do any activity that requires you to be alert. Avoid prolonged sun exposure because this medication can make your skin more sensitive. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding. There may be an interaction between Meloxicam and other medications such as Cyclosporine, Lasix, Glyburide, Coumadin, Enalapril, Aspirin, etc.
