Syntocinon Injection (Oxytocin) is used to increase the contraction of the uterus which helps to induce labor in pregnant women. It may also be used right after delivery to prevent or treat excessive bleeding. Syntocinon is a man=made chemical that is similar to a natural hormone called oxytocin. This medication only used when there is a medical condition that prevents women from going into labor naturally. Oxytocin belongs to the class of medications called oxytocic hormones. It works by stimulating uterine contractions. Syntocinon is injected into a muscle or given as an infusion into a vein.
