Orbenin (Cloxacillin) is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as penicillin antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Cloxacillin works for bacterial infections only, it will not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu. Do not use any antibiotic unless it is needed, otherwise it can cause it to not work for future infections.

The common side effects of Orbenin may include diarrhea, gas, mouth sores, nausea, upset stomach, and vomiting.

Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Dark urine;
• Easy bruising/bleeding;
• Joint pain;
• Muscle aches;
• Persistent nausea/vomiting;
• Persistent sore throat;
• Signs of kidney problems;
• Stomach pain;
• Unusual tiredness;
• Yellowing eyes/skin

Before taking Orbenin, tell your doctor if you are allergic to Cloxacillin or to other penicillin type antibiotics or if you have any other allergies. Prior to taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history and if you have ever had kidney problems. This medication may cause live bacterial vaccines to not work as well. Do not have any immunizations or vaccinations while you are using this medication unless advised by your doctor. Elderly people and newborns may be more sensitive to this medication. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Orbenin and other medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
