What is Janumet?

Janumet, with the generic name sitagliptin and metformin HCl, is an oral drug indicated to improve glycemic control for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This antidiabetic is an adjunct to proper diet, regular exercise, and other medications. This drug is a combination of a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor and biguanide. It works by slowing down the inactivation of incretin hormones and improving glucose tolerance. This is available in Janumet 50/1000 mg and Janumet 50 500 mg.
