Clobex (Clobetasol Propionate) is a prescription shampoo and spray used to treat certain scalp and skin conditions, including psoriasis, dermatitis, and skin rash. Psoriasis is an immune-mediated inflammatory condition that causes raised, scaly patches on the skin due to systemic inflammation. The active ingredient in Clobex is Clobetasol Propionate. Clobetasol belongs to the group of medications called a highly potent topical corticosteroid. It works by reducing the swelling, itching, and redness associated with the skin condition.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking Clobex. The most common side effects of Clobex may include the following:
• Burning sensation;
• Itching;
• Redness at the application site;
• Skin dryness

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, including:
• Allergic reactions such as severe skin rash, itching and swelling of the face, and difficulty with breathing;
• Easy bruising and thinning of the skin;
• Skin striae;
• Skin bleaching or changes in skin color;
• Unintended weight gain;
• Worsening of symptoms

Before using clobetasol shampoo or spray, it is essential to inform your doctor if you are allergic to it or any other steroids (such as hydrocortisone or dexamethasone); or if you have any other allergies. If you are asthmatic, using the Clobex shampoo rather than the spray would be best. Clobex is a spray or shampoo and should be applied only on the skin. You should apply the shampoo to the affected skin area in the morning and afternoon. Use the spray and the shampoo according to your prescription label. Do not use Clobex spray on your face, groin, or armpits in areas where the skin is fragile and likely to tear or bruise. Do not apply Clobex products to broken skin. You should use a small amount of Clobex on the affected area and not bandage the site unless directed. Inform your doctor if your condition lasts or gets worse after two weeks.

Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant;
• Have diabetes mellitus;
• Have HIV/AIDs or a weak immune system;
• Have kidney disorder;
• Have liver problem;
• Have problems with your heartbeat or poor blood circulation; • Have other skin or scalp conditions such as rosacea, perioral dermatitis

Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant or nursing a baby. During pregnancy, Clobex should be used only when needed. You should discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if Clobetasol Propionate passes into breast milk when applied to the scalp or skin. You should consult with your doctor before breastfeeding a baby. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Clobetasol Propionate and other medications such as auranofin, desmopressin, and other strong corticosteroids medicine. It is unknown if Clobex shampoo or spray is safe and effective in children. You should store the shampoo or the spray in the original bottle away from children’s reach.
