Save on Canadian Pharmacy Eliquis 5mg & 2.5mg

Eliquis is an oral anticoagulation prescription medication used to prevent strokes and blood clots in people with atrial fibrillation, a condition characterized by an irregular heartbeat. You will know this as one of the many blood thinner medications on the market.

This medicine is also given to treat or reduce the risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT; a blood clot that usually develops in the leg) and pulmonary embolism (PE; a blood clot in the lung).

In addition, Eliquis may be prescribed after hip or knee replacement surgery to help prevent DVT or PE.

However, despite being a life-saving medicine, Eliquis, and even Eliquis generic versions, is not immune to the costly price increases typical of name-brand prescription medications.

Fortunately, there are a few ways you can offset these price hikes and save money with an online Canadian pharmacy.

Use an Eliquis coupon to save money on your online order using our Canadian Pharmacy!  Never purchased from our Canadian pharmacy online? You can take advantage of this Eliquis coupon to instantly save money on your order over $100! free eliquis coupon

Here at PricePro Pharmacy, we’re proud to provide discount medications, from brand name to generic Eliquis and more, to Americans.

An Eliquis prescription in the US may cost you as much as: $472.21 using a prescription drug discount card, or $7.87 per tablet, for either 2.5mg or 5mg doses

But thanks to universal healthcare here in Canada, we’re able to get prescription drugs for as much as 60-80% off what you’re paying locally in the United States.

In the case of Eliquis, a 60-tablet supply of a 5mg dosage will only cost you $3.08 per dose, or $185 USD for your entire prescription.

And that’s before the Eliquis coupon is even applied.

This price difference alone is why many Americans are turning to online Canadian pharmacies, such as PricePro Pharmacy, to help lower the costs of their prescriptions without affecting the quality of their medication.

After all, we provide the same brand-name 5mg Eliquis tablets manufactured by Bristol-Myers Squibb & Pfizer that your neighborhood pharmacy packages for you. The only difference is the cost.

If you are new to using an online Canadian pharmacy, or are unfamiliar with the concept, check out this resource to learn more about how this route can help you save money on your Eliquis prescription.

Eliquis (Apixaban) Medication Information

Uses

Eliquis is an anticoagulant medication prescribed to treat conditions that increase the risk of clots. Eliquis reduces the risk of clots in people with atrial fibrillation or with a history of deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism. The generic name for Eliquis is apixaban.

Atrial fibrillation is a condition where a chamber of the heart beats too fast, and blood becomes trapped in the atrial chamber, increasing clot risk.

Other people may take Eliquis because they’ve had a clot in the past, and the drug can prevent clots’ recurrence.

Apixaban is a factor Xa (ten-A) inhibitor. Factor Xa is a blood protein that contributes to the formation of clots. Apixaban binds to this protein and slows clot formation.

Dosage

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

The usual dose is 5 mg by mouth twice a day. It can be taken with or without food.

For people with impaired kidney function, the dose might be reduced to 2.5 mg twice daily.

Side Effects

Eliquis slows down the formation of clots, so the most common side effects are minor bleeds. Other side effects include:

  • Anemia
  • Bleeding gums
  • Blood in the urine
  • Bruising
  • Hematoma
  • Major bleeding
  • Minor bleeding
  • Nausea
  • Nosebleeds

Precautions

People with prosthetic heart valves should not use Eliquis to prevent clots.

If you fall and suffer a head injury while taking this medication, call your doctor’s office or go to the hospital. Head injuries may lead to a dangerous brain bleed that is potentially life-threatening.

It should not be used during pregnancy.

Interactions

Eliquis shouldn’t be taken with other medications that slow clot formation unless directed by your doctor. Tell your doctor about any new medications you start, including over-the-counter and herbal supplements.

Apixaban can interact with the following drugs:

  • Dabigatran
  • Dexamethasone
  • Edoxaban
  • Efavirenz
  • Mifepristone
  • Nevirapine
  • Prednisolone
  • Prednisone
  • Rifabutin
  • Rivaroxaban
  • St. John's Wort

Storage

Store Eliquis close to room  temperature at 20°C to 25°C (68°F-77°F).

Pharmacist Tips

  • Eliquis is usually a lifelong medication. Do not stop taking it unless directed by your healthcare provider.
  • The tablets can be taken with or without food.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking Eliquis because it can increase the levels of the drug.

Eliquis FAQs

Do I have to get my INR checked by taking Eliquis?

No, unlike the anticoagulant warfarin, Eliquis does not require regular INR checks. However, there are other blood tests that your doctor might check periodically.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Eliquis?

Take it as soon as you remember, as long as it’s no longer than six hours since your last dose. Do not double up the dose.

How do I manage bleeding while taking Eliquis?

Manage it like you normally would, but the bleeding will take longer to stop. You will have to apply pressure for longer than normal, and bruises may become bigger than before. Speak with your healthcare provider about when you should seek medical attention.
