Myleran (Busulfan) is a prescription medication used to treat people with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) that is caused by a genetic mutation in the stem cells produced by the bone marrow. The active ingredient in Myleran is Busulfan. Busulfan belongs to the class of medications called alkylating agents. It works by inducing cell suicide or by damaging the DNA or RNA that tells the cell how to copy itself in the division.

We currently offer the brand Myleran from Canada manufactured by Aspen in the strength of 2 mg tablets. The generic Busulfan is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while taking Myleran. The most common side effects of Myleran may include the following:
• Chest pain;
• Diarrhea;
• Fatigue;
• Mouth sores;
• Nausea and vomiting;
• Poor appetite;
• Signs of allergic reaction like rash or hives;
• Signs of infection like chills, cough, or fever;
• Stomach pain
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, including:
• Dry mouth;
• Liver problems;
• Lung problems;
• Seizures;
• Skin discoloration
These are not all of the side effects of Busulfan. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not take Myleran if you are allergic to Busulfan or any ingredient in Myleran. Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant;
• Blood or bone marrow disorders;
• Exposure to an infection;
• Have brain disorders such as head injury or seizures;
• Have had gout;
• Have had recent immunizations or vaccinations;
• Have liver, lung, or kidney problem
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Myleran and other medicines, including Alkeran, Kemadrin, Imuran, Leukeran, and Purinethol. It is unknown if Myleran is safe for use in children. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant. You should not become pregnant while using Busulfan. Busulfan may harm the unborn baby. Women who can become pregnant should use effective birth control during treatment with Myleran and for at least six months after treatment. Men with female partners who can become pregnant should use reliable birth control during treatment and for at least three months after stopping treatment. It is unknown if Myleran passes into breast milk. Do not breastfeed during treatment. Myleran may affect fertility in both men and women. Store Myleran at 250C (770F). Excursions are permitted to 150C to 300C (590F to 860F).
