Albalon (Naphazoline Hydrochloride) is a decongestant used to relieve redness, puffiness, and itchy/watery eyes due to colds, allergies, or eye irritations. Albalon belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha receptor agonists. It works by decreasing congestion in the eye by narrowing swollen blood vessels.

We currently offer the brand Albalon from Canada and New Zealand by Allergan. The generic version is not available.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Albalon may include blurred vision, mild burning or stinging of the eye, mild headache, nervousness, and watery eyes.

Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Anxiety, confusion;
• Buzzing in your ears;
• Changes in vision;
• Chest pain, fast or uneven heart rate;
• Eye pain;
• Feeling short of breath;
• Ongoing or worsening eye redness;
• Severe headache

Do not use this medication while wearing contact lenses. Albalon may contain a preservative that can discolor soft contact lenses. Wait for at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before putting in your contact lenses. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Albalon and other medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
