Product Details

Savaysa is an anticoagulant medication (blood thinner) that blocks clotting in the blood. It is used to lower the stroke risk of patients with atrial fibrillation, or to treat a type of blood clot called deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Savaysa includes: bleeding and low red blood cells (anemia). The serious side effects may include:

• Bleeding that won’t stop
• Bloody or tarry stools
• Coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
• Easy bruising or bleeding
• Headaches, dizziness, weakness, passing out
• Pain, swelling, drainage from a wound
• Pink, red, or brown urine
• Symptoms of a spinal blood clot

You should not take Savaysa if you are allergic to edoxaban tosylate, if you have active/uncontrolled bleeding. This medication can make you bleed more easily and can cause a very serious blood clot around your spinal cord if you have a spinal tap or epidural administered while on it. Before you start taking Savaysa, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications. Talk to your doctor if you have had: an artificial heart valve, bleeding problems, liver or kidney disease. You should not take Savaysa while pregnant or nursing. Taking this medication while pregnant can cause bleeding in the mother and/or the unborn child. There may be an interaction between Savaysa and other medications, including: other blood thinners, NSAIDs, and antidepressants. Do not stop taking this medication without talking to your doctor, as it can increase your risk for blood clot or stroke.
