Binosto (Alendronate Sodium Trihydrate) is a prescription medication used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Osteoporosis if untreated may result in bone fracture, severe bone pain, and poor quality of life. The active substance in Binosto is Alendronate Sodium Trihydrate. Alendronate Sodium Trihydrate belongs to the class of medications called Calcium Metabolism Modifiers; Bisphosphonate Derivatives. It works by binding to hydroxyapatite crystals in bone and inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and increases the bone mass.
