Aygestin Information
Aygestin (Generic name: Norethindrone Acetate) is a prescription medication used to treat abnormal bleeding from the uterus in women who have sopped having menstrual periods. In addition, it is used to treat a medical condition called endometriosis, which is an infection of the endometrium or inflammation of the lining of the uterus. Aygestin contains the active substance Norethindrone. It is a synthetic female hormone (progestin) that used in oral contraceptive to prevent pregnancy or birth control. Norethindrone is also used to treat premenstrual and menopausal syndrome. Take Aygestin exactly as it was prescribed for you.
Aygestin Side Effects
The most common Aygestin side effects are acne, changes in menstrual periods, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, and weakness. If you experience any severe side effects including breast lumps, chest pain, depression, fainting, fever, jaundice, numbness, vision of changes, or symptoms of a serious allergic reactions (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Aygestin Precautions
Do NOT take Aygestin if you are allergic to Norethindrone any of the ingredients in Aygestin medication. Do NOT take Aygestin oral if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Before taking Aygestin oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions, such as abnormal vaginal bleeding, blood clotting disorder, breast cancer, depression, diabetes, heart diseases, high blood pressure, kidney or liver problems, migraines, and seizures. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions or over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use, especially of: antibiotics, antifungals, HIV drugs, rifampin, seizure medications, and St.John’s Wort. They may interact with Aygestin drug.
