Jublia (Efinaconazole) - Product Information

Jublia is the medication your doctor may prescribe if you suffer from a toenail fungal infection (onychomycosis). It should not be used to treat other skin fungal infections. Typically it is only on the affected toenails and the surrounding skin.

What is Jublia used for?

It is an antifungal solution. The active medicinal ingredient is called efinaconazole and its works to stop fungal infections. More specifically, it is a treatment for toe fungus or onychomycosis. It is usually clear to pale yellow and in a solution form.

The product is packed in a white plastic bottle and comes with a flow-through brush applicator. Be aware that it is for external use only and should never be swallowed.

How to use Jublia?

Make use of Jublia just as your doctor has prescribed and directed.  Hence, avoid smaller or larger doses than necessary. Additionally, use it for the recommended period which is typically for 48 weeks. Apply the solution directly to the toenail that has a fungal infection.

Only one dose is needed each day for forty-eight weeks or about eleven months. Remember to apply the solution after washing and drying your toenail properly. Cover the whole toenail, including underneath the tip of your nail.  Let the solution dry fully prior to wearing either your sock or shoe. Additionally, let it rest for ten minutes prior to taking a bath. If you don’t see any changes, get in touch with your doctor the soonest possible. As the bottle is flammable, keep it far from heat.

Use the applicator to apply and ensure that you cover the whole toenail to get rid of onychomycosis. Should you forget the dose, apply the solution the soonest you can remember. However, leave the dose alone if you are almost applying the next one. While Jublia overdose is not dangerous, it’s vital to completely follow your doctor’s instructions.

What are the side effects of Jublia?

The most common side effects include the following:

• Itching
• Ingrown toenail
• Pain or irritation in the toenails being treated.

These side effects should be tolerable. However, if you notice swelling elsewhere in your body, including your face, call your doctor.

What are the precautions of using Efinaconazole?

If you are going to apply Jublia to your toenails, take these precautions:

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any allergies or health problems you live with
• Don’t do pedicures or apply nail polish or another beauty product to the toenails being cured with Jublia
• Avoid Jublia if you have an efinaconazole allergy
