What is Latisse used for?

Latisse, with the generic name bimatoprost, is an ophthalmic solution used to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes. It increases their growth, including thickness, length, and darkness. This is also used to treat glaucoma.

This is available in Latisse 0.03% in 3 mL and 5 mL bottles.

How does Latisse work?

The exact mechanism of this structural prostaglandin analog is not fully known. However, this medication is believed to prolong the active growth phase, known as the anagen phase. This increases the percentage of hair growth.

How to use Latisse?

To start, read the medication information leaflet with this prescription medication. Do not use this type of drug if you have not yet fully understood all the drug information and precautions in the guide. You should ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have inquiries regarding this eyelash serum or need additional medical advice.

Always wash your hands properly before applying this drug to avoid infection. Remove any makeup or contact lenses. Then, place one drop of solution into the applicator. Gently draw the applicator along the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the bottom of your eyelash, from the inner part to the outer part of your lash line. Discard the applicator and apply the solution to the other eyelid using a new applicator. This medication should not be applied to the lower eyelids.

Remember to use this medication exactly as prescribed. Do not alter your dosage or frequency as it is based on the assessment done by your doctor. In addition, you must not stop using this drug abruptly unless advised. Once you stop using Latisse eyelash serum, the appearance of your lashes will go back to how it was prior to treatment.
