Usage

Naropin (Ropivacaine Hydrochloride) is a prescription medicine used to cause numbness, as an anesthetic agent before and during surgery, or to ease labor pains (cesarian section). The active ingredient in Naropin injection is Ropivacaine Hydrochloride. Ropivacaine belongs to the class of medication called local anesthesia (Amides). It works by preventing the generation or conduction of nerve impulses by reducing sodium permeability and increasing the action potential threshold. Naropin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Naropin are headache, fever, back pain, nausea, vomiting, funny taste in your mouth, restlessness, and irregular heartbeat.

Stop using receiving Naropin injections and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Confusion;
• Feeling like you might pass out;
• Numbness or tingling around your mouth;
• Problems with speech or vision;
• Ringing in your ears;
• Weak or shallow breathing or gasping for breath

Warnings and Interactions

Before receiving Naropin, tell your doctor if you have been allergic to any numbing medicine. The Naropin injection should be received in a hospital or surgical setting under the supervision of clinicians experienced in regional anesthesia. Your breathing, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and other vital signs will be monitored while receiving Naropin. Inform your doctor if you feel strange (funny taste or difficulty with respiration) while receiving this injection before your surgery. Careful aspiration before and during injection is recommended to prevent injecting Naropin into the blood vessel. The patient's vital signs should be closely monitored during the injection. If toxic symptoms occur, the infusion should be stopped immediately. Some numbing medications can have long-lasting or delayed effects. Call your doctor if you have joint pain, stiffness, or weakness in any part of your body that occurs after your surgery, even months later.

Before you start using Naropin, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• A heart rhythm disorder;
• Heart disease;
• History of malignant hyperthermia;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease;
• Low blood pressure or you are using antihypertensive medicines

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or breastfeeding a baby. Naropin is not expected to harm an unborn baby; however, this drug should only be used in pregnancy I the benefit outweigh the risk. It is unknown if Ropivacaine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby. There may be a drug interaction between Naropin and other drugs such as mitotane, timolol, tecovirimat, benazepril, and other anesthetic agents such as bupivacaine liposome.
