Usage

Betoptic (Betaxolol Hydrochloride Ophthalmic Suspension) is a beta-blocker eye drop medication used to treat open-angle glaucoma and other causes for high eye pressure. It works by reducing the eye pressure and bringing it back to acceptable levels.

Side Effects

The possible Betoptic side effects include: blurred vision, dizziness, eye irritation, itchy or watery eyes, feeling like something is in your eye, headache, increased sensitivity to light, or trouble sleeping. Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following serious side effects occur:
• An allergic reaction (skin rash, itching, swelling, difficult breathing);
• Blue fingers/toes, cold hands/feet, hair loss;

Warnings and Interactions

• Asthma, or COPD;
• Blood circulation problems or peripheral vascular disease;
• Diabetes;
• Heart disease or congestive heart failure;
• Low blood flow to the brain;
• Muscle weakness disorder;
• Thyroid disorder

This drug may cause blurred vision and dizziness. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more dizzy. Do not drive or perform any activity that requires alertness until you can do it safely. Do not use Betoptic while wearing contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes after using Betoptic before putting your lenses in. Talk to your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, and herbal medications. Also tell them about any vitamins and supplements you take. There may be an interaction between Betoptic and other medications, especially: epinephrine, fingolimod, and high blood pressure medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Betoptic is not suggested for use in children.
