Usage

Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is a prescription medication that is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, including those that cause acne, urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, periodontitis, chlamydia, and others. This medication is also used to prevent malaria. Vibramycin is a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria. Vibramycin is an antibiotic that treats bacterial infections only; it will not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu. Vibramycin capsules are best taken by mouth on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after a meal, usually one or two times daily or as directed by your doctor.

Doxycycline may cause live bacterial vaccines to not work as well. You should not have an immunizations or vaccinations while you are using Vibramycin. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Stay out of direct sunlight, wear protective clothing, and apply sunblock. Do not use a sun lamp or a tanning bed. Vibramycin should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm an unborn baby. This medication passes into breast milk but is not likely to harm a nursing infant. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
