Usage

Nalcrom (Cromolyn sodium) is a prescription medication used to prevent food allergies and restrict main causative allergens. Nalcrom reduces the severity of allergic symptoms after eating a particular food. It also treats certain allergic eye conditions (vernal keratoconjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis, vernal keratitis). The active ingredient in Nalcrom is Cromolyn sodium. Cromolyn sodium belongs to a class of drugs called mast cell stabilizers (anti-allergic). It works by preventing the release of substances (including histamine) in the body that cause inflammation in the stomach and intestines. Your allergy symptoms from certain foods should get better within 2 to 3 weeks of taking Cromolyn sodium.

The common side effects of Nalcrom are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, itching, stomach-ache, and headache.

Stop using Nalcrom and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects such as:
