Indications

Cosopt is an ophthalmic solution that contains a combination of dorzolamide hydrochloride and timolol maleate.

Cosopt is used as a medication to help lower intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

The dorzolamide hydrochloride component of Cosopt works by reducing the amount of fluid within the eye, while timolol maleate works by inhibiting the production of aqueous humour.

Use and Dosage

Read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start using timolol/dorzolamide each time you get a refill. If you have any questions regarding the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

To apply eye drops, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface.

Cosopt is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to beta-blockers (failed to achieve target IOP determined after multiple measurements over time).

The dose is one drop of Cosopt in the affected eye(s) two times daily. If more than one topical ophthalmic drug is being used, the drugs should be administered at least ten minutes apart.
