Caduet (Amlodipine/Atorvastatin) is a prescription medication used to treat people with high blood pressure (hypertension), chest pain (angina) and coronary artery disease (due to high cholesterol). Caduet may also lower the risk of heart attack or stroke in people with diabetes and associated complications such as diabetic eye or kidney problems, smoking, or high blood pressure. The active ingredients in Caduet are Amlodipine and Atorvastatin. Amlodipine belongs to a class of medication called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more efficiently and reduces the workload on the heart. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Atorvastatin is a statin, and it helps to lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (DL, triglycerides) and increases the good cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Having a normal range of cholesterol reduces the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks.

You should check your blood pressure regularly and inform your doctor if there is no change or drop in the blood pressure. Contact your doctor if your condition last or worsen. Also, do not take Caduet if you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed. The active ingredients (Amlodipine/Atorvastatin) in Caduet pass into breast milk and may affect your baby.
