Jalyn (Dutasteride/Tamsulosin) is a combination medication used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. Dutasteride belongs to a class of medications known as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors. Dutasteride reduces the size of the enlarged prostate. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker and relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate. This medication helps to relieve symptoms of BPH such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the need to urinate frequently or urgently.

You should not take Jalyn if you are allergic to Dutasteride or Tamsulosin. Jalyn should never be used by a woman, a child or a teenager. Dutasteride can be absorbed through the skin, and women or children should not be permitted to handle Jalyn capsules. This medication should not be exposed to pregnant women as it may cause birth defects. Do not donate blood while taking this medication and at least until six months after. Tamsulosin can affect your pupils during cataract surgery. Inform your surgeon ahead of time if you are using this medication. There may be an interaction between Jalyn and other medications such as doxazosin, itraconazole, atenolol, diltiazem, sildenafil, tadalafil, warfarin, etc.
