Crolom (Cromolyn sodium) is a prescription medication used to treat allergic eye conditions like vernal conjunctivitis, vernal keratitis, and keratoconjunctivitis. Allergens like dust, pollen, and pet dander are the primary causes of eye allergies. The drug prevents itching that often occurs as a result of these conditions. The active ingredient in Crolom ophthalmic is Cromolyn sodium. Cromolyn sodium belongs to a class of drugs called mast cell stabilizers. It works by acting on certain cells known as mast cells, preventing them from releasing substances that cause eye allergic reactions.

Wash your hands before and after using Crolom ophthalmic. Tilt your head back and press your finger gently on the skin beneath your lower eyelid. Pull the lower eyelid to make space for the ophthalmic solution. Drop the eye drops into the space, let go of the eyelid, and gently close your eyes. Keep your eyes closed for about 2 minutes to allow the eye to absorb the medicine. Do not blink. Do not allow the tip of the applicator to come in contact with any surface, including your eye, to keep the medicine germ-free. Your symptoms should improve within a few days of using the Crolom ophthalmic solution. If your symptoms persist, contact your doctor. Store Crolom at room temperature in a closed container, away from moisture, heat, and direct light.
