The Function of VimovoVimovo

Vimovo contains naproxen and esomeprazole. Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, decreases the amount of acid your stomach produces. Esomeprazole reduces the risk of ulceration and damage to the gut lining.

Naproxen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), reduces substances in your body that cause pain, fever, and inflammation by blocking cyclo-oxygenase (COX). COX produces prostaglandins in response to certain medical conditions, such as arthritis or injury.

Prostaglandins cause swelling, pain, and inflammation and Naproxen blocks them from doing so.

The Various Medical Conditions Vimovo Treats

Vimovo is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. The esomeprazole in Vimovo reduces the risk of stomach ulcers in patients receiving NSAID treatment.
