Erythromycin (Erythromycin) macrolide antibiotic, which is used to slow the growth of bacteria. It works by reducing the production of important proteins needed for certain bacteria to survive. Erythromycin is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections. The usual recommended start dose is 150mg tablet or capsule.

o Loss of appetite
o Stomach pain (upper right side)
o Tiredness
• Severe stomach pain;
• Watery or bloody diarrhea;

Less serious side effects of Erythromycin may include: mild diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or loss of appetite.

Erythromycin should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your medical history to be sure you can safely take Erythromycin. Particularly if you have a history of: liver disease, myasthenia gravis, a heart rhythm disorder, long QT syndrome, an electrolyte imbalance (low magnesium or potassium). You should not take Erythromycin if you are allergic to Erythromycin. It isn’t known how this medication might affect an unborn or nursing infant. You shouldn’t take Erythromycin while pregnant or nursing without discussing the risks with your doctor. This medication may make contraceptive medications less effective. You should supplement with a barrier form of birth control while taking Erythromycin. There may be an interaction between Erythromycin and other medications including: lovastatin, simvastatin, cisapride, pimozide, ergotamine, or dihydroergotamine. Talk to your doctor about any medications or herbal supplements you are currently taking.
