Pariet is a prescription medication that is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems such as acid reflux and ulcers. Rabeprazole belongs to a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). This medication works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Pariet may also be given with an antibiotic to prevent gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H.pylori). Rabeprazole is not used for the immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.
