Product Details

Elocom (mometasone Furoate 0.1%) is used for providing relief from swelling, pain, warmth, redness, itching or other discomfort caused by certain skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, allergies, and rash. This medicine belongs to a class of drugs known as topical corticosteroids. It reduces the action of chemicals in the body that causes inflammation. Elocom is available in several dosage forms such as cream, ointment, and lotion (solution). The most popular dosage is 0.1%/75 mL.

Less serious Elocom side effects may include: red or pus-filled bump on your skin, acne, mild itching, tingling or burning, thinning of the skin with easy bruising, inflammation of hair follicles, skin color changes. Stop using Elocom and contact your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

• Severe skin irritation
• Blurred vision
• Acne like reaction
• Infected hard sores
• Eye pain
• Loss of vision
• Seeing halos around the eyes
• High blood sugar characterized by increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, and fruity breath odor
• Puffiness or rounding of the face
• Weakness and tiredness
• Dizziness when standing or sitting down

A thin layer of Elocom should be applied to the affected area once a day. It should be used exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not take by mouth. It is for topical use only. Do not cover the treated area with occlusive bandages as covering the area may result in an increased amount of medicine absorbed through the skin and lead to serious side effects. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks of treatment. Avoid applying Elocom to the skin of your face, underarms, or groin area unless your doctor has told you to. Do not use cosmetics or other skin products on the treated areas. Do not use Elocom if you are allergic to mometasone furoate or any other ingredients in the preparation or have other skin problems such as rosacea, skin atrophy, acne, cold sores, nappy rash, chicken pox, shingles, warts, ulcerated skin, wounds or other skin infections as the medication can make them worse. Before using Elocom, tell your doctor if you have a skin infection to be treated, are suffering from any medical condition such as diabetes, or poor circulation, are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is not known whether Elocom will you’re your unborn baby or pass into breast milk.
