Oxytrol patch (Oxybutynin) is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of an overactive bladder. An overactive bladder causes a frequent and sudden urge to urinate, which may be difficult to control. The symptoms of an overactive bladder include frequent or urgent urination, incontinence, and increased nighttime urination. The active ingredient in the Oxytrol patch is Oxybutynin. Oxybutynin is a transdermal patch that delivers the medicine slowly and constantly through your skin and into your bloodstream. Oxybutynin belongs to a class of drugs called antispasmodics. It works by relaxing the muscles of the bladder and urinary tract. It helps to reduce bladder spasms, the urge to pass urine, and the frequency of urination.
