Zyloprim Information:

Zyloprim (Allopurinol) is used to treat gout and kidney stones caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood. It is also used during chemotherapy to prevent high uric acid levels. Zyloprim works by inhibiting an enzyme that is needed for uric acid production, which lowers the overall levels of uric acid. To make sure Zyloprim is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, or if you are receiving chemotherapy. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor about possible risks. Tell your doctor about any other medications you are currently taking in order to reduce the risk of interactions. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Zyloprim. If you have any skin rash, even mild, or signs of a liver problem, stop using Zyloprim and call your doctor immediately. If you experience any serious side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
