Usage

Loxitane (Loxapine Succinate) is a prescription medication used to treat schizophrenia and dementia-related psychosis (including strong emotions, intrusive thoughts, actions, and apathy). The active substance in Loxitane is Loxapine Succinate. Loxapine Succinate belongs to the group of medications called Antipsychotics, 1st Generation. It works by restoring the level of dopamine in the brain. Treating schizophrenia and related psychosis helps patients be productive, think correctly, and feel less nervous and aggressive.

Loxitane Side Effects

The common side effects of Loxitane are constipation, nausea, vomiting, injection site pain, redness or swelling, sudden drop in blood pressure, blurred vision, and nasal congestion.

• A rapid drop in your blood pressure resulting in palpitation, sweating, and restlessness;
• Depressed or suicidal thoughts;

Loxitane Precautions

Before taking Loxitane injection or its tablets, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or have any other allergies. Loxitane comes either as an injection vial or tablet. You should take the tablet orally with a cup of water and follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not use more than your prescribed dosage. If you are having a Loxitane injection, it should be given by a medical doctor inside the hospital. The tablet should be taken two to four times a day.
