Indications

Synjardy is a diabetes medication used to control blood sugar levels in those with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The medication is also used to lower diabetes or heart disease patients’ risk of death from heart attack, stroke, or heart failure.

This oral diabetes medication combines empagliflozin and metformin to support your kidney’s secretion of glucose from your bloodstream and lowering its production in your liver. The two anti-diabetic agents support glycemic control by acting on separate areas, such as urinary excretion and liver production of glucose.

Thanks to its combination of empagliflozin and metformin, Synjardy effectively improves glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The medication has been found to be well-tolerated with a low risk of causing hypoglycemia. The drug combination also helps reduce pill burden for better quality of life.
