Usage

Evorel Conti (Estradiol Hemihydrate/Norethisterone Acetate) is a combination medication used as a form of hormone replacement therapy by postmenopausal women to relieve the symptoms of menopause such as vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, and sleep problems. The active ingredients in the Evorel Conti patch are Estradiol Hemihydrate (an estrogen) and Norethisterone Acetate (progesterone). It belongs to a group of medicines called hormone replacement therapy (HRT). These hormones' deterioration can cause distressing symptoms, such as irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and vaginal dryness or itching. Evorel Conti patches supply the body with estrogen, which significantly drops during the menopausal stage and helps reduce any symptoms that can occur during menopause.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Evorel Conti are headache, breast pain or enlargement, spotting, mood swing, pimples, and breakthrough bleeding.

Stop using Evorel Conti and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Mood changes, such as feeling depressed;
• Stomach pain or bloating;
• Weight gain

Warnings and Interactions

Before taking this medication, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to the Evorel Conti patch. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients found in Evorel Conti, it is advised that you do not take these medications. Evorel Conti patches are suitable for postmenopausal women aged 40 and 60 who still have a womb. Therefore, it would be best not to use the Evorel Conti patch if you are still in your premenopausal stage. Using this medication as prescribed by your doctor and instructions is important. Evorel Conti patches should be applied to dry, clean skin and placed on a slightly different skin area when changed. Evorel Conti is a continuous hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that must be changed twice a week; a patch is worn for three to four days and then replaced by a new one. For example, if you apply your first patch on a Monday, change it on Thursday and again on the following Monday. Do not apply the patch on the same skin area twice in a row. If the patch falls off while bathing or showering, you must replace the patch once your skin has dried. If you forget to replace a patch, it is recommended to change it as soon as possible and keep to the original 'patch change' days.

Before you start using Evorel Conti, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Cancers such as breast cancer, cancer of the womb, or fibroids in the womb;
• Blood disorders (porphyria);
• High blood pressure (hypertension);
• Heart attack, angina, or history of sudden chest pain;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease;
• Stroke;
• Unexplained vaginal bleeding or blood clots;

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Evorel Conti is not for women of reproductive age. It should not be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor before using this medication to ascertain that you are fit for the Evorel Conti patch. There may be a drug interaction between Evorel Conti and other drugs such as rifabutin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, amobarbital, and ritonavir.
