Anusol HC (Hydrocortisone/Zinc) is a prescription steroid type of medication that is used to treat itching and swellings of the anal area due to hemorrhoids. The Anusol HC is a suppository that may also be used to treat discomfort after a surgery to the anal area and other conditions that affect the anal area. The Anusol HC is a combination medication belongs to a group of medications known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing swelling, irritation and itching.

The common side effects may include burning, itching and redness. The serious side effects may include:
• Change in skin appearance;
• Headache;
• Skin redness or tenderness;
• Swelling ankles or feet;
• Thirst or urination;
• Vision problems;
• Weight loss

You should not use Anusol HC if you are allergic to Hydrocortisone or Zinc. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication should not be used when he is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk.
