By improving stool texture, linaclotide may aid with bloating, stomach pain/discomfort, straining, and the feeling of incomplete bowel movements.

Warning & Dosage

Linzess Dosage

  • Linzess 72 mcg, Linzess 145 mcg and Linzess 290 mcg.
  • Dose for Irritable Bowel Syndrome in Adults: 290 mcg once a day orally
  • Linzess for Constipation: 145 mcg once a day orally

Direction 

  • Take this drug by mouth on an empty stomach once a day, at least 30 minutes before your first meal, as instructed by your doctor. Completely swallow the capsules. It is not recommended that the capsules be broken or chewed.
  • If swallowing the capsule is difficult, it can be opened and the contents combined with a teaspoon of applesauce. Without chewing, immediately swallow the concoction. It is not recommended to preserve the combination for later usage.
  • You can also pour the pill’s contents into an ounce (30 milliliters) of water. Swirl the mixture for 20 seconds and drink without chewing it immediately away. To obtain your full dose, add another ounce (30 milliliters) of water to the cup, stir for 20 seconds, and drink straight away. Alternatively, the water mixture can be injected into the stomach via a tube (nasogastric or gastric tube). If you’re using a tube to administer this medication, make sure you have clear instructions from your doctor.
