Yaz 3mg;0.02mg (Drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol) is a prescription medication used to prevent pregnancy. Yaz is also used to treat moderate acne in women who wish to use birth control pills. The drug is also used to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, irritability, lack of energy, and trouble concentrating. Yaz is a combination birth control pill. The active ingredients in Yaz are Drospirenone and Ethinyl estradiol. Drospirenone belongs to a class of drugs called progestins. Ethinyl estradiol belongs to a class of medications called estrogen. The female hormones work together to prevent ovulation. The drug also causes changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.
