Usage

Flector (Diclofenac Epolamine Topical Patch) is a topical patch used to relieve pain from various conditions such as sprained ankles. The patch is also effective for lower back pain and localized aches, pains, and inflammation throughout the body. The active ingredient in Flector is Diclofenac Epolamine. Diclofenac Epolamine belongs to the class of medication known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the inflammatory processes in the body and, as a result, relieves pain and swelling.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Flector are itching, burning, irritation, redness, or dry skin, which may occur at the application site.

Stop using Flector and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects such as:
• Itching and burning sensation at the site of application;
• Nausea and vomiting that doesn't stop;
• Passage of dark colour urine;
• Severe abdominal pain;
• Severe skin burns at the site of application

Warnings and Interactions

Before using the Flector transdermal patch, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and celecoxib) or have any other allergies. Transdermal diclofenac is a patch to apply to the skin in the most painful area of the body. The patch is usually applied twice daily, once every 12 hours. Apply diclofenac patches at around the exact times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Do not apply more or fewer patches or more often than your doctor prescribes. Do not apply diclofenac patches to skin that is broken, damaged, cut, infected, or covered by a rash. Do not wear the patch during bathing or showering. Take baths or showers at times when you usually change the patch. Do not let the patches contact your eyes, nose, or mouth. If the patch does touch your eye, wash the eye out immediately with water. Check your blood pressure regularly and tell your doctor if the results are high. Tell your doctor if your pain lasts or gets worse.

Before you start using Flector, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Asthma;
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Heart disease;
• Kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Severe skin infection or wound;
• Stomach or intestinal problems

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or if you plan to become pregnant. Flector transdermal patch may harm an unborn baby and cause problems with delivery. It is not recommended for use in pregnancy from 20 weeks until delivery. Your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of using this patch during pregnancy. Diclofenac Epolamine passes into breast milk but is unlikely to harm a breastfeeding baby. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Flector and other drugs such as lithium, methotrexate, cidofovir, losartan, aliskiren, and other topical patches.
