Rulid (Roxithromycin) is a prescription medication used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, non-gonococcal urethritis, sore throat, skin infection, and other bacterial infection in the body. The active ingredient in Rulid is Roxithromycin. Roxithromycin belongs to the class of medication called macrolides. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria and impairs the elongation cycle of the peptidyl chain by specifically binding to the 50 S subunit of the ribosome. By this mechanism, Roxithromycin kills and prevents the growth of the bacteria, causing the infection. Therefore, do not use Roxithromycin against viral or fungal infections.
